Welcome to my education blog!
This is where I will discuss important topics in special education and share what I believe is important for everyone to know. If you have found yourself reading this blog, I hope you find any part of what I can share useful, whether it is helping with the anxiety of being a first-year teacher or helping you gather new information about a topic you are interested in.
What should you expect?
Throughout my blog, I will be posting about things that are relevant and current for teachers and parents dealing with Special Education and High School education. I also hope to share my firsthand experiences as a new teacher to help ease the anxieties for future teachers who are feeling the pressure.
A few topics I hope to discuss:
Special Education
Funding
Resources
What It Means for Your Student
Lesson Plan Ideas
Anxiety as a Teaching Prospect
My First-Hand Experiences
Who Am I?
My name is Spencer. I am a student at Eastern Iowa Community College with a major in Secondary Education, specializing in History and Government. I plan to transfer in the fall (2025) to the University of Dubuque to receive the rest of my degree. I also plan to receive my master's degree in English and Special Education after the completion of my bachelor's degree in May of 2027. As of now, I have worked two years as a Special Education Paraprofessional, which is where my love of Special Education and for teaching as a whole began.
Outside of the classroom, I am an avid kayaker, reader and traveler. I have traveled to seven different countries, and I have been to over twenty different states. I enjoy spending time with my friends and my cats. My favorite book series is Harry Potter and of course it is also my favorite movie series. My favorite thing to read is thrillers and mysteries now a days though.
I am looking forward to sharing my experiences, research and knowledge with everyone. I hope even a little bit of the information I share, is able to grow someone elses knowledge.
Thank you for reading and until next time,
Spencer
