My son and I joined sailing community a few months ago. Sailing is great. The sailing clubs in Monterey, Berkeley and Sausalito are awesome. I am currently learning advanced sail trimming and preparing for ASA 118. Adjusting the trim, feeling the power of the wind, and watching the boat increasing the speed is a lot of fun. There are a few nice phone apps for speed measuring. I've used them a lot, and ... dropped my phone in the bay by an accident. I was lucky to recover it thanks to a diver in Sausalito club. :) I've tried to search an app for my Android watch, and could not find any. So, Claude, Gemini, and I wrote one. :) I've been using it for a while. It is pretty accurate and easy to read on the sun. So, I am sharing it with my clubs and the wider sailing community. Enjoy!

The screen colors can be adjusted in the app Settings. The Settings are displayed upon a long-click on the display.

There are two versions of the app - for an Android phone and for an Android Watch. The app can be installed on the Watch directly using Play Store in a web browser.

Runs on: any phone with Android 8.0 (Oreo, 2017) or later — which is the vast majority of Android phones in use today.
Requirements:
GPS / location hardware — the app's whole purpose is GPS speed (FusedLocationProviderClient), so it needs a device with location.
Google Play Services — it uses play-services-location, so it won't work on phones without Google services (e.g. some Huawei models or AOSP-only builds).
Permissions: ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION and ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION.
