VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS:
Class A Volunteers are individuals who will be in close-proximity with athletes on a regular basis or who may have administrative and/or fiscal authority.
To volunteer as a coach, chaperone, team management member, or Unified Partner, you must complete the following Class A Volunteer requirements:
Class A Volunteer Requirements
Complete the Volunteer / Unified Partner Application (Required) by downloading a filled out copy and submitting it down below. A photo of your driver's license or other state-issued ID must be included to verify your identification. A background check is required for all Class A volunteers 18 years of age or older.

Complete and submit the General Orientation quiz online here.
Protective Behaviors Training (Required) Class A Volunteers and Unified Partners who are 18 years of age and older are required to complete the online Protective Behaviors training, unless they are a current high school student.
Concussion in Sports (NFHS) (Required)
Your Protective Behaviors Training course and proof of completion will be sent to Special Olympics North Dakota by Special Olympics Inc.
The Volunteer/Unified application (along with a photo of your driver's license or other state-issued ID- if applicable) and Certificates of Completion for Protective Behaviors Training and Concussion in Sports can be submitted below.

Traditional Special Olympics
Unified Sports
Coaching Unified Sports-online course via NFHS or in person training conducted by a certified trainer.
(Sports Specific Knowledge)
(This Level is required of Head Coaches to attend USA National Games in specific sport being coached.)
Traditional Special Olympics
Sports Specific Course-online for those sports where online courses have been developed by Human Kinetics (Basketball, Soccer, Softball, Tennis, Volleyball) or in person sport specific training.
Unified Sports
Coaching Unified Sports-online course via NFHS or in person training conducted by a certified trainer
Sports Specific Course-online for those sports where online courses have been developed by Human Kinetics (Basketball, Soccer, Softball, Tennis, Volleyball) or in person sport specific training.
Fitness Coach Course-online through Special Olympics Learning Portal or in person training conducted by a certified trainer.
(the option to become a certified Fitness Coach is not sport specific, but the general knowledge is applicable to all sports. Also, being a Certified Fitness Coach is NOT a requirement to coach at the USA National Games.
(Advanced Coaching Knowledge)
(This Level is required of Head Coaches attending World Games.)
