Department Policy: The Harper College Communication Arts Department, in accordance with the state of Illinois requirements, requires that three speeches, five minutes or longer, must be presented and recorded in a professional setting outside of the home (classroom, conference room, office space, library...) in front of a live audience of six people (over the age of 16) located in the same room as the speaker. The six-member audience must also be visible (or wave to the camera to be counted at the start) in the video recording throughout the entire presentation.
All audience members must be at least 16 years old.

All audience members should be briefed by the speaker prior to recording,
regarding the information on this page.
A professional setting is a room outside of your home. Examples include a conference room, a classroom, or a library room. Contact your instructor if you are unsure if your setting meets the requirements.
