  • We worked on grammar as a large group
  • When to use definite articles in Spanish when we don't use them in English

  • We read the biography of Julia Alvarez as a class
  • Students chose a biography to read and completed an integrated performance assessment to go along with it

Friday 9/21

  • Students read a biography of their choosing and shared their findings with a partner
  • Class discussion of Hispanic Heritage month reading
  • H.H. month questions AND Nombres questions due


Wednesday 9/19

  • We finished reading Nombres, yay!
  • Students read about Hispanic Heritage month with a partner
  • Students shared their "gritos" with the class.

Monday 9/17

  • Students read Nombres
  • Students read about a famous ranchera from Mexico
  • Students listened to the song and filled in the blanks to the lyrics

  • Students continued their study of "Nombres" by Julia Alvarez
  • We started reading about Mexico's Independence day

  • Students received new classroom jobs
  • We did a treasure hunt with a partner to learn about the people in our class
  • Students read the first page of Names/Nombres by Julia Alvarez and answered questions 1-3

Wednesday 9/5

  • Students did a horizontal conjugation and comprehension check of a reading about the weekend
  • Students wrote about their own weekends and shared with a partner
  • Some students shared aloud what their partner did with the class.
