Class stories

Unit 3, Day 5 Nov. 21 and 22

Students are practicing the past tense as we create a story about a girl who finds a lot of animals on her walk, before getting lost in the forest. Students are practicing regular -AR verbs in the preterite tense as they act and create.

Upcoming Dates:

  • Accion de Gracias -Thanksgiving.
  • Homework is to relax and enjoy time with family and friends

Unit 3, Day 4 Nov 15 and 20

Students continued to practice the past tense and we learned the structures Se acerco a, Se la/lo llevo, and vio que habia. We began asking a story about a girl who sees some interesting animals.

Upcoming dates:

  • I will be gone for the remainder of the week. Students will work on readings with a substitute teacher and we will story ask on Monday for B day kids


Unit 3, Day 3 Nov. 13 and 14

Students continued to practice fue and djio. We also learned a little bit about Julio Cesar and his famous Latin phrase, vine vidi vici. We used Cesar's model to create our own Cesar sentences in Spanish using the structures vine ( I came) and vi (I saw). Students read each other's sentences and created the "conquered" portion of the phrases for each other.

Unit 3, Day 2 Nov. 9th and 10th

Students continued to practice the structures fue and dijo along with our date, days of the week, weather, and fashion reports. We read and discussed a reading about the Venezuelan musical duo Chino y Nacho and the rumors regarding their possible break up. We also watched the video for their song Andas en mi Cabeza. We also summarized chapter 1 of Fiesta Fatal and read chapter 2 as a class.

  • La Palabra Secreta for next week is Que tal It means "What's up?"

Unit 3, Day 1 Nov. 7th and 8th

Students were introduced to two high frequency verbs in the past tense. Fue (he/she went) and dijo (he/she said) We discussed where we went over the weekend using the drawing template below and crafted creative rumors before guessing who said what. We also began reading the chapter book Fiesta Fatal.

Today we did a check in English and discussed the importance of legends and why we are learning the story the way we are. We also retold version 5 of La Llorona as a class with student actors before doing partner retells and vocab review with a paper check in and a game.

Today we wrapped up our review of the super seven with an in class free writing assignment. After, we filled out new amigos maps and began reading through the first three versions of La Llorona. If you were absent we created an amigos map for you.

This was the last day of our intro/review unit. Students are mastering the super seven verbs. We practiced retelling our class story, La Chica Quiere Cafe, several times with a dramatic class retell, ping pong translation, drawing, partner retell, and student to class retell. We had a 10 question quiz about the content of the story.

Homework

Study for in class writing assessment next class, 9/29 for A days and 10/2 for B days. Students will have 10 minutes to write an original story or a story based off "La Chica Quiere Cafe" Using 120+ words and all seven verbs. You can find the rubric and the vocabulary from this unit below.

We are beginning to wrap up our review unit, students practiced with estar and ir (voy, va) as well as the other super verbs we've been reviewing. Students read a fictional story about Shakira and acted it out in front of the class. Students created maps for the future and explain their plans to a partner before sharing their partner's plans with the class.

A review of ser, tener, gustar, hay, and estar. We talked about how we're doing today, television in Spanish speaking countries, and students decided to interview the teacher for a little change.

A review of ser, tener, gustar, and more practice with hay. We described celebrities with language we've been practicing and tried to guess who is who. Students created a story about a girl, a boy, and their pets and retold the story in Spanish to a partner.

A review of ser, tener, gustar, and hay. We read about Shakira's love triangle and practiced describing people using nationalities and talking about families using hay English discussion of gender in Spanish language.
