About The Club

Matches

League matches are played in the evenings from early May to late August, starting at 6:30pm and lasting about 2 hours. There is also a Friday afternoon league that starts at 2pm. Most matches are against clubs in the Spalding area. The Club enters the following leagues and cup competitions.

The national Top Club and Club Two Fours cup competitions, and the Bowls Lincolnshire Driffill cup.

Spalding & District Bowls League on Thursday and Friday evenings

Spalding and District Friday Afternoon League

EBA Triples League on Tuesday evenings

The Lincolnshire Bowling Association Challenge Bowl and Ron Kitchen Memorial Trophy cup competitions, and the Spalding & District Sid Lane and Guardian cups.

For evening matches, players are allowed to use the adjacent school car park.

Organisation

The Club is managed by a Committee elected by the Members at the Annual General Meeting in the autumn each year. A team captain is elected for each league team. In the spring, Members are assigned to the teams according to their preferences. Each team’s squad normally contains about three more players than required for a match, to cover holidays and injuries or sickness, and Captains rotate their players to ensure that all are treated fairly.

Members may book the green at any time for roll-ups or individual competition matches.

The Club is funded by fees paid by the Members, who pay an annual subscription and are charged a rink fee at each Club match in which they play. There is no charge for using the green for individual competitions or roll-ups. Rinks can be booked throughout the week using the booking sheets kept in the Clubhouse.
