In 1936 six Clubs, Plough Inn B.C Littleworth,Holland Ex-Servicemens B.C, Spalding Common B.C,Holbeach Carters Park B.C , Mail Cart B.C & Spalding Town B.C came together to form the Spalding & District Bowls League. The records show that they played ten games each and the league was won by Holbeach Carters Park who scored 18 points, second place Spalding Town scored 12 points. Sugar Factory joined the league in 1939 bringing the number of Clubs to seven however the League was suspended due to the war and was re-started in 1945 but restricted to Spalding only due to travelling difficulties.
Over the following years the league expanded and by 1971 consisted of 20 Clubs playing League Bowls, in the current season the number of clubs entered in the League stands at 13 playing under English Bowls Federation rules in 4 Divisions.
The League also runs 10 Competitions each season.
