Dr. Kazuya Yoshida of Tohoku University is a leading authority in space robotics, with a career spanning 30 years, and contributions from free floating dynamics for space assembly to more recent work to develop tools to inhabit the Moon. He will present an overview of space robotics and application of robotics in space.

Dr. Alin Albu-Schaeffer, The Director of the leading Institute of Robotics of the German Aerospace Center, will describe how they will support the daily activities and healthcare of astronauts during long missions to the Moon and to Mars.


  • Dr. Yang Gao, Surrey Space Centre (UK), "Environmental aspect of space robotics - removing space garbage"

Dr. Yang Gao FIET FRAeS, Head of Space Technology for Autonomous & Robotic systems Laboratory (STAR LAB), Surrey Space Centre, will give a talk on robotics for sustainable space exploration and highlight key mission opportunities and commercial applications including in-orbit manufacturing, space debris removal, Moon village.


  • Dr. Zhibin (Alex) Li, University of Edinburgh and Dr. Ekaterina Ivanova, Imperial College London (UK), "Human-centered teleoperation for space robotics"

Dr. Zhibin Li and Dr. Ekaterina Ivanova will present a human-centred teleoperation concept for space robotics. Dr Zhibin is conducting leading developments of multi-robot manipulation at U Edinburgh. Dr. Ivanova is part of the Human Robotics group at Imperial College London carrying out interdisciplinary research on human-robot interaction from neuroscience to interfaces. They will present a teleoperation system with shared control for complex manipulation that is implemented between London and Edinburgh.
