CEGPs - Converging-Element Ground Planes

The broadband verticals presented in the other menu items (BMA, CEMs and Manta Ray) need RF ground to operate. If the RF ground is not available, you may want to try a GP vertical. I modeled two versions of 5-element CEGPs.

In order to analyze the antennas gains, we need again a reference to which we can compare their performance. I chose a quarter-wave GP as the reference antenna. Its maximum gain in free space equals 1.58 dBi.

5-element CEGP

The 5-element CEGP is a modification of the 5-element CEM. The 16 radials are replaced with 4 counterpoises. They are  4 meter long.

5-element CEGP Mk.2

This version has reduced counterpoise length. The reduction to 2.1 m was possible after a perimeter wire had been added around the ends of the counterpoises.

5-element CEGP Mk.3

This is another 5-element CEGP version with reduced counterpoise length. It has two 3-meter long counterpoises and two 1-meter long counterpoises. Every counterpoise is folded back, and its end is connected with the ends of the other counterpoises. The upper part of the antenna is the same as in the basic version of the 5-element CEGP. Therefore, only the dimensions of the lower part are shown in the picture.
