Research Associate/Senior Research Associate in Human-Computer Interaction/Digital Fabrication
This role will work with the pro² network+, a leading team of experts across UK Universities, to collect, synthesise and publish research on the current landscape of approaches to device-building, and future opportunities for new approaches.
We will you do:
The post holder will comprehensively map existing device-building tools and techniques with particular attention to the challenges of low-volume manufacturing which are a key focus area for the pro² network+. A second key deliverable for this position is to identify new standards that could be used to ensure compatibility and interoperability across a range of low volume components and manufacturing infrastructure.

Research Associate/Senior Research Associate in Playful Edible Interfaces
We are looking for candidates with strong background in human-food interaction and edible interfaces to imagine design and engineer playful edible interfaces and study their impact on early development of disabled and non-disabled children.
What will you do:
You will explore approaches to designing and engineering edible interfaces with a particular focus on playful interaction and early development. You will investigate approaches to designing edible interfaces and how they might be augmented with a wider range of sensory modalities (e.g., olfactory, auditory, and visual display).
You will employ iterative design and development to construct and evaluate a range of prototypes. This will contribute new knowledge to the growing body of literature on human-food interaction and edible interfaces and particularly in the areas of disability and child-computer interaction.

Research Associate/Senior Research Associate in Inclusive Co-design
We are looking for candidates with strong co-design background engineering background to imagine, design, prototype interactive technology to support playful interaction for early development of disabled and non-disabled preschool-aged children.
What will you do:
You will explore co-design approaches to establish requirements for cross-sensory social play technology targeting the early motor, cognitive and social development of preschool age children. You will use child-centred design methodologies, contextual inquiries, design research, iterative co-design and prototyping, and case study evaluation.This will contribute to creating a contextual understanding of best practice in supporting early development, generate conceptual design and build early prototypes of cross-sensory social play technology grounded in end user experience and practice.
