It's our Birthday!

We are having a little celebration to commemorate our 15 years of operations at the end of May 2024. On the Spring Bank Holiday, 27th May we are having an open day at our Bridgwater head office depot and a static vehicle display at Junction 23 Park & Ride. A number of visiting vehicles are booked  to attend from our friends in the model fleet world. The sites are being linked by a special shuttle bus service which will feature a number of the fleet that don't normally see use on public services.

There will be a couple of talks during the day from our respected comrade about the development of the operation and you'll be able to meet the 10th and 15th anniversary commemorative buses.

Service changes for Summer 2024

There will be some changes to our services from Sunday 5th May 2024 following a review of our commercial bus network and the award of BSIP funding from Somerset Council.

These are listed in service order.

Service 12: This will be changed from the current timetable and will extend to Weston super Mare once again. We withdrew the Brean-Weston section of route thanks to tree damage sustained by our double decker buses at the end of the 2021 season. We are reinstating the route which will now operate with large single decker buses that can accommodate around 20-25 standing passengers.

A basic 30 minute daytime frequency (0700-1930) will be provided between Burnham on Sea and Weston super Mare, buses will operate hourly during evenings until 2300 during summer months.  On Sundays and Public Holidays, an hourly service will be in operation during summer months (which are defined at the start of April to the end of September), two hourly during the winter. An hourly daytime winter timetable will be in operation Mondays to Saturdays from the first week of  October to the last week of March each year. Look out for the coast rider branded single decker buses!

Service 16: This will be truncated at Langport and no longer operate through to Martock and Yeovil owing to low passenger numbers. A two hourly daytime timetable will be in operation Mondays to Saturdays. The section of route from Martock will become Service 52.

Service 37: The timetable will be revised with a number of improvements, thanks to BSIP funding being awarded. The daytime timetable will continue on an hourly frequency but additional 'fast' journeys will be operated every hour between Bridgwater and Street. These will stop at Bridgwater Hospital, Ashcott and Crispin Hall (in Street) only. These journeys will show 37X on the destination screen and will extend to Glastonbury once an hour.  So if you're making an end to end journey between Bridgwater and Street you'll now have a 30 minute frequency on the service. We're also doubling the frequency on Sundays and Public Holidays - buses will operate hourly instead of every two hours.

Service 47:  This new route will operate between Bridport, Beaminster, Broadwindsor, Crewkerne and Yeovil. It is partially funded by Dorset Council and offers a peak hour service to Yeovil for the benefit of college students who have previously travelled on a dedicated service. Buses will leave Bridport, for Yeovil at 0710 and 1420 and return from Yeovil at 0855 and 1635.  Additional journeys between Beaminster and Bridport, numbered 40 are being introduced with funding from Dorset Council. Buses will leave Bridport for Beaminster at 0710, 1032, 1212, 1332, 1422 and 1802. Buses leave Beaminster for Bridport at 0639, 0949, 1059, 1239, 1359 and 1729. The service will operate Mondays to Saturdays. We look forward to seeing you onboard our new route.

Service 52: This new route will be introduced as a replacement for the Martock to Yeovil section of the 16 service.  This new route will also serve Bower Hinton on all journeys, which will be provided on a two hourly frequency Mondays to Saturdays.

Service 68:  This new route will operate between Sturminster Newton and Yeovil, taking in Hazelbury Bryan, Kings Stag, Holwell, Bishops Caundle and Sherborne. It replaces a service which has been provided for Yeovil College students. Three journeys each day will operate in either direction Mondays to Saturdays which we hope prove useful for those doing their shopping. Buses leave Sturminster Newton at 0736, 0956 and 1326. Buses leave Yeovil at 0850, 1220 and 1720.

From the 25th of May - some seasonal services will start operation.

Service X67:  We're introducing a new, summer Sunday (and Bank Holiday) only route from the 25th of May until the 29th of September. It will operate from Yeovil to Sidmouth and take in a large part of Dorset and Devon on it's journey. You'll be able to visit Bridport, West Bay, Charmouth, Lyme Regis and Seaton. It's experimental but we are likely to continue it's operation after 2024 as a way of giving the residents of Yeovil a low cost way of having a day out.  If you want to visit Abbotsbury or Weymouth, you can change onto the X88 bus at West Bay and continue your journey.

Two other services, aimed to service tourist destinations are being introduced. Service 241 will provide a circular tour of the Mendips from Wookey Hole Caves, Wells Cathedral, Wells Bus Station, Glastonbury and Street.  Service 242 will provide a circular tour of the Somerset levels, starting in Bridgwater, then going to Fyne Court, Hestercombe Gardens, Monkton Elm Garden Centre, Burrowbridge (for Burrow Mump), Westonzoyland Pumping Station and back to Bridgwater. The journey will take 95 minutes and you can hop on hop off as you like if you purchase a day ticket. Both the 241 and 242 will use classic, open top, step entry buses which aren't accessible for those less able (there's a couple of steps up to the floor).

Therefore, if you want to travel and need assistance, you are very welcome but PLEASE CALL US THE DAY BEFORE so we can make sure an accessible bus is available for you.  We do not want you to be left behind.

Service 429, Bridgwater to Steart Point will also return - but the short journeys on the 430 to Nether Stowey will no longer be operating as this route now operates hourly.

241, 242 will operate every Saturday and Sunday from end of May to last week in August and the 429 will operate every Sunday (and Bank Holiday) from the same time. During the 6 week school summer break, all three services will also operate Mondays to Fridays.

As always, new timetables are available on board our buses and here on the website. However if you want us to post a printed one, please email or phone the office and we'll make sure you get one in the post. We look forward to seeing you on board our buses this summer. We just want the right weather, now!
