Benjamin Maze

Benjamin Maze is a Sydney-based professional landscape photographer, educator and workshop leader. His work is known for dramatic light, refined compositions and a strong sense of atmosphere. Ben runs small-group workshops, mentoring, camera club presentations and educational programs across Australia and overseas. He brings a thoughtful and creative approach to landscape photography, with a strong emphasis on seeing, composition, mood and personal expression

Samuel Markham

Samuel Markham is an Australian landscape photographer with a passion for capturing nature, dramatic light, atmosphere and emotion. His work explores the beauty and power of the Australian landscape, with a strong focus on composition, mood and creative processing. Samuel also runs small-group workshops and offers personalised photography instruction.

Urs Buhlman

Urs Buhlman is a highly experienced advertising and conceptual photographer whose career has spanned five countries and many years at the top of the commercial photography industry. He has been recognised as a leading advertising photographer by both the AIPP and the wider industry, and his work reflects a deep understanding of visual style, communication and image-making.

Urs is also the founder of Bear Stock, a boutique rights-managed stock library specialising in backgrounds and backplates for the global transportation market. His conceptual imaging work is represented in four international stock libraries.

In his presentation, Urs will explore the development of photographic style through his own career, looking at how a personal visual language is shaped by experience, subject matter, purpose and the photographer’s own way of seeing. His talk will include simple, accessible images and ideas that attendees can relate to and apply in their own photography.

Phil Warburton

Phil Warburton combines a strong scientific background with a passion for insect photography. With a Masters degree in entomology, Phil brings specialist knowledge of insects together with close-up photographic observation.

Phil's talk will describe why so many people are now interested in photographing insects. Over 2.2 million people now contribute photographs of insects to iNaturalist which is one of the largest platforms globally for publishing such images. 93 million insect images are now recorded on that platform.

We will cover the various techniques that Phil employs including studio set-ups, traditional macro shots and the use of longer focal-length lenses. Some of the essential post-processing approaches will be described including focus stacking. Some of the insider tricks for capturing insect images will be revealed and we will discuss the lighting challenges associated with candid shots of insects in their environment! We hope you will emerge from the talk, keen to join the band of photographers who love to add new things to the photographic record of our insects
