Biography

Sourav is a computer scientist and an educator by profession. He doesn’t see any difference between a scientist making a discovery and an artist creating an art. So when he is not tinkering with data, he tinkers with paints and charcoal. His artistic interest lies in  "cognitive art" - art that provokes one to think about the lives we lead and the things we do and their impact on the planet and society. Sourav strongly believes that "art doesn't change the world but it may change the way we see the world." Fundamental to all major problems in this planet (from climate change to refugee crisis), he believes that we first need to change the way we see the world before we can address any problem. Sourav hopes that his paintings will impact positively the way people view various challenges related to our planet, and take concrete steps to alleviate them. To this end, he has given public exhibitions of his paintings in Singapore. Some of his paintings have been sold for social causes such as contributions to elderly care and children suffering from rare diseases.
