Welcoming a new life into the world is one of the most sacred and joyful moments a family can experience. A saining or wiccaning is a beautiful way to present your child to your community, ask for the blessings and protection of the divine, and celebrate the new soul who has joined your family.

These ceremonies are not a dedication to any specific spiritual path. They are a blessing, a welcome, and a promise of love and protection, leaving your child free to find their own way when they're ready.

As an eclectic pagan of over 20 years and a certified Reiki Master, I bring deep intention, reverence, and genuine warmth to every ceremony I perform. Whether you're welcoming your first child or your fifth, whether you want an intimate family gathering or a full community celebration, I'll craft something that feels meaningful and true to your family.

Saining

Rooted in Scottish and Celtic tradition, a saining is a blessing and consecration ceremony for a child. The word comes from the Scottish Gaelic "seun" meaning to bless, consecrate, or protect.

During a saining, the child is presented to the elements (earth, air, fire, and water), blessed with protective intentions, and welcomed into the community. The ceremony can honor specific deities, ancestors, or spirits meaningful to your family. Guardians or spiritual mentors may be named to watch over the child as they grow.

A saining is ideal for families who identify as pagan, Celtic, eclectic, or spiritual but not specifically Wiccan.

Wiccaning

A wiccaning is the Wiccan tradition of presenting a child to the God and Goddess, asking for their blessing and protection over the new life. The child is welcomed into the spiritual community and surrounded by love, intention, and the energy of those gathered.

Like a saining, a wiccaning does not commit the child to any specific spiritual path. It is a celebration of new life and a promise to nurture, guide, and protect the child as they grow into whoever they are meant to be.

A wiccaning is ideal for families who follow a Wiccan path or feel drawn to Wiccan traditions.

Every saining and wiccaning I perform is personalized to your family. Here are some of the elements we can weave into your ceremony:

• Presentation of the child to the four elements (earth, air, fire, water)

• Circle casting and calling the quarters

• Blessing with consecrated water or oil

• Invocation of deities, ancestors, or spirits meaningful to your family

• Naming of guardians or spiritual mentors for the child

• Candle lighting for the child's path ahead

• A spoken blessing or poem written for your child

• Blessing cord for the child (available as an add-on)

• Crystal blessing for the child, performed by a certified Reiki Master

$200 (or $175 with prompt deposit)

• Holiday & Sabbat fees apply on applicable dates

*$100 deposit required to reserve your ceremony date. Pay your deposit within 2 weeks of your initial inquiry and receive the discounted rate.

• Keepsake ceremony scroll: $25 (a beautiful printed copy of the ceremony for your family to treasure)

• Blessing oil or water prepared with Reiki intention: $15

• Custom blessing cord for your child: starting at $45 (same pricing structure as handfasting cords)

• Crystal blessing for the child: $75 (selected and charged by a certified Reiki Master)
