About My Ceremonies
About My Ceremonies
Are you 2SLGBTQIA+ affirming?
Absolutely. Love is love, and every couple deserves a ceremony that honors who they are. All of my ceremonies use inclusive, gender-neutral language unless you tell me otherwise.
What is a handfasting?
A handfasting is a traditional pagan and Celtic ceremony where the couple's hands are bound together with a cord, symbolizing their union. It can be legally binding or purely spiritual, depending on your preference.
My ceremonies include a circle casting, calling the quarters, and honoring the elements, fully personalized to your spiritual path.
What is a commitment ceremony?
A commitment ceremony is a beautiful spiritual ritual that honors your bond without legal paperwork. It's perfect for couples who are already legally married, don't want the legal side, or simply want something deeply personal and spiritual.
What is a saining or wiccaning?
A saining and wiccaning are both blessing ceremonies for children. A saining comes from Scottish and Celtic tradition, while a wiccaning is rooted in Wiccan practice. Both welcome the child, ask for divine blessings and protection, and present the child to the community. Importantly, neither commits the child to any spiritual path. They are a celebration of new life and a promise to love and protect the child as they grow.
What is a cord binding add-on?
If you're booking a standard or premium wedding but would love a cord-binding moment in your ceremony, I can incorporate one as an add-on. This is different from a full handfasting ceremony, which includes a complete pagan ritual experience.
What happens if it rains?
I perform ceremonies rain or shine! I'd recommend having a backup plan or covered space, but a little rain on your wedding day is actually considered good luck in many traditions.
About the Process
How do I Book?
It's simple! Fill out my inquiry form and I'll be in touch within 1-3 business days to discuss your vision and confirm availability. Once we're a good fit, I'll send you a contract and collect a $100 deposit to hold your date. For a full walkthrough of the process, check out the What to Expect page!
Can you perform legally binding ceremonies?
Yes! I am an Ordained Minister dual credentialed through the Universal Life Church and American Marriage Ministries, and legally authorized to perform marriages in the State of Vermont and many other jurisdictions.
Do I need a marriage license?
Yes, you will need to obtain a marriage license from the Town Clerk in the town where your ceremony will take place. I'll guide you through the process and handle the signing and filing after the ceremony.
Do you travel outside of Vermont?
Yes! I'm happy to travel throughout New England. A travel fee of $0.70/mile applies for ceremonies outside of Chittenden County.
About Payment
What forms of payment do you accept?
Venmo, PayPal, cash, and credit/debit card (3% processing fee on cards).
When is the full balance due?
It depends on when you book. Bookings more than 3 months out follow a payment plan. Bookings 1-3 months have a balance due 1 month before. See your contract for full details.
About Custom Cords
Can I order a custom cord without booking a ceremony?
Yes, absolutely! Ceremony clients receive a discounted rate on custom cords as a thank you for booking with me. Standalone cord pricing is slightly higher to reflect the individual service. Visit the Handfasting Cords page for full pricing details!
How long does it take to make a cord?
This depends on the complexity, but generally 1-2 weeks. Please book/order early enough to allow crafting time before your ceremony!
