AMC Coverage: Perform this activity only for websites that are covered under an active AMC package.
Before starting the work, confirm that the client has paid the AMC charges.
Payment status should be verified either with the Accounts Team or by checking the “AMC Account” project in Asana.
Once AMC payment is confirmed, schedule the website for maintenance.
Plugin updates should be performed every three months as part of the AMC maintenance cycle.
The Website Development Team (WDT) will log in to the website’s WordPress Admin Panel.
Open the Installed Plugins page and take a screenshot of the complete plugin list before making any changes.
Upload the screenshot to the respective task for future reference.
The WDT will assign the task to the Server Team to take a complete website backup.
The Server Team will take a full backup of the website files and database before any updates are performed.
Once the backup is completed, the Server Team will reassign the task to the WDT.
The WDT will assign the task to the Backend/PHP Team to review and update the following, if required: WordPress version, PHP version, Database version
The required updates will be performed through cPanel/server settings, wherever applicable.
Once completed, the Backend/PHP Team will reassign the task to the WDT.
The WDT will review each installed plugin/theme and the userlist and confirm whether it is currently being used on the website.
If plugins/themes are no longer required, they should be removed or uninstalled.
If users are no longer required, it should be removed.
If there is any uncertainty about whether a plugin/theme or a user is required, confirm with the client before removing it.
The WDT will update all active and required plugins to their latest or compatible versions.
Care should be taken to ensure that plugin updates are compatible with the updated WordPress and PHP versions.
After completing all plugin updates, the WDT will take another screenshot of the Installed Plugins page.
Upload the updated screenshot to the respective task for reference and comparison.
The WDT will review the website after all updates are completed.
Check whether the website is loading and functioning correctly.
Any issues identified during this review should be resolved before sending the website for QA testing.
The WDT will assign the task to the QA Team for a complete website review. The QA Team will verify: Website design and layout, Desktop, tablet, and mobile, responsiveness, Forms, Links and navigation, Images and media, Website functionality, Important integrations, Other critical website features
Any issues found by the QA Team should be reported and resolved before final approval.
Once the QA Team confirms that the website is working correctly, inform the client that the WordPress, PHP, database, and plugin updates have been completed successfully.
Keep the website backup on the server for approximately 10–15 days after the updates.
During this period, monitor the website for any issues related to the updates.
Once the website has remained stable and no issues have been reported, the WDT will assign the task to the Server Team to delete the temporary backup from the server.
The Server Team should confirm in the task once the backup has been deleted.
