For this project, we had to pick a location outside of North America and research its demographics + technology culture. We also had to pick a partner and then compare the two locations in a PowerPoint presentation.
For my project, I did not pick a partner so I chose two locations: Vatican City and Tokyo, Japan. Vatican City is a very small city state and Tokyo is a huge city with lots of advances in technology, so I thought it would be an interesting comparison.
In Vatican City, there is only one pet dog.
In Tokyo, there are hotels and restaurants that are automated by robots.
I didn't choose a partner for this project, so I can't reflect on the collaboration portion of this project. However, I think that researching these two locations and their usage of technology was very interesting and it was cool to view these two very different locations from an outsider's perspective. I learned how technology merges with day-to-day life, like how Vatican City utilizes the radio station or how the Shinkansen in Japan is crucial for public transportation for millions of people.
