How to Visit Amisan Ssukti (Sookdoo)
Sookdoo is located in Ssukti Village, deep in the mountains of Boeun, Chungcheongbuk-do, Korea.
By car, it takes approximately 2–2.5 hours from Seoul, or about 40 minutes by car from Osong KTX Station. Public transportation is not readily available.
A taxi service operates between Osong Station and Ssukti Village. Advance reservation is required, and the fare is KRW 50,000 one way.
We will provide the exact address and taxi reservation information once your visit has been fully confirmed.
Simple Jang-Making Workshop
(Up to 8 participants / Approx. 4 hours / KRW 100,000 per person)
We offer a one-day hands-on experience where participants make jang together.
Depending on the season, we make either “Quick Gochujang” or Makjang.
After the workshop, you will take home the recipe along with approximately 3 kg of gochujang or 1 kg of makjang.

Individual Visits
If you would like to visit individually, please send us a DM at @sook.doo at least one week in advance.
(1) Tea + Village Walk — Free
Enjoy a simple tea together and take a walk around Ssukti Village.
The type of tea served will vary depending on the season and schedule.
(2) Meal + Tea + Village Walk — KRW 30,000 per person
We will prepare a lunch using jang from Sookdoo and Amisan Ssukti.
Before or after the meal, we will share tea and take a walk around the village.
(3) One-Night Stay — KRW 150,000 per person
Includes three meals during your stay.
Depending on the schedule, accommodation is available for 2–4 people.
Please note that accommodation may not be available when we have outside events or personal commitments.
The accommodation has a private bathroom and heating, but does not have modern amenities such as air conditioning or a conventional mattress.
We make every effort to maintain a clean environment. However, Ssukti is a remote mountain village, and we do not use pesticides or insecticides around the areas where our jang is made and stored. Please keep this in mind when planning your visit.
Woodworking Workshop (KRW 30,000 per person)
During your visit or stay, you can also participate in a simple cutting-board making workshop, which takes approximately 2-3 hours.
Make Your Own Ssukti Jang Program (Up to 8 participants / KRW 1,300,000 per person)
Starting in 2027, we will offer individual jang jars for long-term fermentation.
After approximately one year of fermentation, you will receive:
Approximately 13 kg of doenjang
Approximately 5 L of ganjang
Your individual onggi jar
During the fermentation period, your jar will be carefully managed and maintained at Ssukti Village.
2027 Schedule
Making the jang: Saturday, February 13
Separating the jang (Jang Gareugi): Saturday, April 3
Dividing the finished jang: Saturday, December 11
Each session takes place over one day.
You must be able to attend all three dates to participate.
If you miss even one of these sessions, we will not make or manage the jang on your behalf.
Participants who receive their own jang jar are also welcome to freely participate in Amisan Ssukti’s regular jang-making activities.

For international visitors, we can connect you with Angoo Korea, an agency we work with.
They can arrange customized experiences for individuals or groups, including 5-day tours focused on Korean food and culture, with Ssukti included in the itinerary.
