It is absolutely vital to try to find ways to produce textiles in a sustainable way! The bellflowers' clocks are ticking...
I have found my own ways to contribute to this by for example using old yarns, recycled and waste materials both in the courses which I provide and in my weaving and other textile projects. I had an exhibition where I only used old white sheets as the raw material of my textile works.
Right now I am really excited about being able to use 100-year-old linen both as warp and weft. I have dyed the yarn, designed and woven cloths from them. Here you can see a blue fabric which I wove of the 100-year-old linen (tow= rohdinpellava) yarn. You can see this old linen ( tow= rohdinpellava and flax = aivina ) in the picture. I have also made cards and little bags from old white sheets, painting on them or using my own handmade prints.
