Sonia Das 

I am Sonia. I am a GIS consultant from India. Currently pursuing a master's in Geoinformatics for Urbanised Society from the University of Tartu. Before this, I worked in the field of GIS applications for Cultural Heritage at the National Institute of Advanced Studies (IISc Campus), India.

My interests include urban planning, cultural heritage management  and site suitability analysis.

This ePortfolio is to showcase my skills. The projects range from urban planning, mobility, and archaeology.

·       Responsible for handling 3 research projects in Karnataka, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and New Delhi.

·       I did a literature review, and remote sensing analysis for Avati, Halebidu, Srirangpatna, Agra, Qila Rai Pithora, Sarnath, Nalanda, Bodhgaya and Vikramshila.

·       Sample collection and radiocarbon dating were carried out in labs of the Inter-University Accelerator Centre in India and ATOMKI in Hungary.

·       Processing optical data, georeferencing old maps (19th century), CORONA (1965) imagery, DEM creation from Cartosat stereo pair using LPS of Erdas sofware

·       Conducting workshops and writing reports and research papers.
