Soil maps and Erodibility analysis for croplands in Bihar, India
Figure 1 shows cropland of Bihar, as from the map one can say that the state is rich in agriculture. Figure 2 shows soil map, from the soil texture map we can see that the soil types loam sandy loam and loamy sand. The data source is Harmonized World Soil database.
Bihar in North India is mainly a agricultural state. From the analysis following points are highlighted:
The soil texture is loam, sandy loam, loamy sand which are are all erodible texture.
The state has many rivers flowing through the land. Major rivers being Ganga, Kosi and Sone that floods every year.
The Erodibility analysis (Figure 3) shows mostly croplands on erodible soil which is true given the fact that North Bihar is mostly prone to floods and floods every year.
