We received a desperate call from a family in urgent need. They live in an apartment complex where newcomers have been renting, and a severe black mold infestation has taken over their home. This is not just any family — it’s a young couple with twin baby girls, and a newborn. The father works tirelessly every day to make ends meet, while the mother has just given birth, recovering and trying to care for their precious infants. They tried to alert the landlord about the dangerous mold, but their pleas fell on deaf ears. They now fear they could be evicted and end up on the street. We are doing everything we can with our limited resources. These babies are still breathing in toxic fumes, and their parents cannot afford to fix the situation themselves. The choice they face is unbearable: live in a place that could severely harm their children’s health or risk homelessness at the start of the brutal Alaskan winter.
