Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information SoloSaga ("we", "our", "us") collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights. By using the App, you agree to this policy.

1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

A. Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

Your email address
Your display name
Your chosen sign-in method (email/password, Google, or Apple)
Account creation timestamp

B. Journal Content

When you write in the App, we collect and store:

The full text of your journal entries ("Chapters")
Entry date, title, and mood selection
A short preview of each entry (first ~100 characters)
An AI-generated summary (~50 words) of each entry, created when you generate a story

C. Character and Style Preferences

If you customise your visual stories, we store:

Character attributes you set (e.g. gender, hair colour, build, eye colour)
Your selected comic story style (e.g. Retro Comic, Anime, Cartoon)

D. AI Assistant Conversations

If you use the AI assistant (paid subscribers only), we store the full conversation history between you and the assistant for each journal entry, up to 50 messages per entry.

E. AI-Generated Content

We store the following on our servers on your behalf:

Storyboard images generated from your journal entries
Narration audio files generated from your journal entries

F. Credits and Subscription Data

We store your current credit balance, monthly usage count, subscription tier (Free or SoloSaga Pro), and subscription status as reported by your app store.

G. Usage Analytics

We collect product analytics to understand how the App is used and to improve it. This includes:

Your user identifier, email address, display name, and subscription status
Feature usage events such as: chapter created, story generated, insights viewed, assistant messages sent, story shared
Properties attached to events such as: mood selection, story style, journal entry length, credits remaining, generation duration, error reasons

H. Local Device Storage

The App caches the following on your device for offline access and faster loading:
Recent journal entries (pending sync and recently accessed)
Story image URLs and narration audio URLs
Downloaded storyboard image files

This local data is cleared when you delete your account or uninstall the App

2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use the information we collect to:

Create and manage your account
Deliver and personalise the App's features (journal writing, story generation, assistant, insights)
Generate AI storyboards, narration, and monthly insights using your journal content
Track and manage your AI credit balance and subscription status
Analyse how the App is used so we can fix bugs and improve features
Respond to support requests you submit

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

We do not use your journal content for advertising purposes.

3. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES WE USE

To provide the App, we share data with the following third-party services. Each service's own privacy policy governs how they handle your data.

A. Firebase / Google Cloud (firebase.google.com)

Your account data, journal entries, assistant conversations, generated content, and all app data is stored on Google Firebase infrastructure, including:

Firestore (database): user profile, chapters, credits, assistant chats
Firebase Storage: storyboard images and narration audio files
Firebase Cloud Functions: server-side AI processing (runs in the United States)
Firebase Authentication: account sign-in and session management

Data is stored and processed in the United States.

B. OpenAI (openai.com)

To generate storyboards, narration audio, AI summaries, monthly insights, and assistant responses, we transmit the following to OpenAI's API:

The full text of your journal entries
Character attributes you have set
Your conversation history with the AI assistant
Your mood selection and entry date

We use OpenAI's API under terms that prohibit OpenAI from using content submitted via the API to train their public AI models. Your journal content is not used to train OpenAI models. Data is processed on OpenAI's servers in the United States.

C. RevenueCat (revenuecat.com)

Subscription management, in-app purchase verification, and subscription lifecycle events are handled by RevenueCat. Data shared includes:

Your app user identifier (Firebase UID)
Subscription status and entitlement information
In-app purchase events and platform (iOS or Android)

D. PostHog (posthog.com)

We use PostHog for product analytics. Data shared includes:

Your user identifier, email address, and display name
Feature usage events and associated properties (mood, journal length, credits, generation results)
Subscription status

Analytics data is hosted at https://us.i.posthog.com (United States).

E. Google Sign-In

If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and display name from Google at the time of sign-in. We do not receive your Google password or access other Google account data.

F. Apple Sign-In

If you sign in with Apple, we receive your email address and display name (if you choose to share them) from Apple at the time of sign-in.

4. DATA STORAGE AND INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

SoloSaga is operated from Australia. Your data is stored and processed in the United States via Firebase (Google Cloud), OpenAI, PostHog, and RevenueCat infrastructure. By using the App, you consent to your data being transferred to and processed in the United States. We take reasonable steps to ensure that third-party services we use provide adequate data protection safeguards.

5. DATA RETENTION

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account:

All Firestore data (profile, chapters, assistant conversations, credits) is permanently deleted immediately
All Firebase Storage files (storyboard images and narration audio) are permanently deleted immediately
Your Firebase authentication record is deleted immediately
Local cached data on your device is cleared immediately

Anonymised usage analytics events already recorded in PostHog are retained in aggregated form and cannot be linked back to you after account deletion. Billing records held by Apple or Google are governed by their respective retention policies and are outside our control.

6. SECURITY

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

TLS/SSL encryption for all data in transit between the App and our servers
Firebase Security Rules to ensure each user can only access their own data
Firebase Storage Rules to restrict access to generated content to the owning user only

No system is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security and are not responsible for unauthorised access resulting from factors outside our reasonable control. Please safeguard your login credentials.

7. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

SoloSaga is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at vishalnaikawadi@gmail.com, and we will delete the account and data promptly.

8. YOUR RIGHTS

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
Correction: request that inaccurate data be corrected
Deletion: delete your account and all associated data at any time via Settings → "Delete Account" in the App, or by emailing vishalnaikawadi@gmail.com
Portability: request your personal data in a portable format

9. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. For significant changes, we will notify you within the App. Continued use of the App after an updated policy is posted constitutes your acceptance.
