The annual Summit on Law + Innovation (SoLI) exists to bring people together who are passionate about innovating across the legal spectrum to #MakeLawBetter. Sponsored by Vanderbilt Law's Program on Law + Innovation, SOLI is about creating a moment that will lead to a movement, to connect the silos of legal practice, legal education, and legal technology to make law better in measurable ways. For the theme of SoLI 2021, we chose Futures Frequency. Because it has never been more important for us to be intentional and proactive in shaping the future we wish to see in the legal profession.
Through the collaborative workshop process, participants will build an understanding of how to engage in future-oriented thinking, challenge their conceptions about the future, imagine preferred futures, and establish a clearer picture of what kind of future they want to champion and how.
*Futures Frequency is a method of future forecasting and action-making created by Sitra, a Finnish organization independently funded and reporting to Finland's Parliament, that collaborates with partners from different sectors to research, trial, and implement bold new ideas to shape a sustainable future. SOLI 2021's workshop is based on Sitra's Futures Frequency method and we're grateful to Sitra for creating and sharing it as an open-source resource anyone can use to imagine and create a better future, starting today.
We will CHALLENGE existing assumptions.
We will IMAGINE a preferred future.
We will take ACTION to shape the future.

SoLI: Futures Frequency marks the fourth annual Summit on Law + Innovation (SoLI) for the Program on Law + Innovation (PoLI) at Vanderbilt Law. The inaugural SoLI featured a wide array of speakers and workshop leaders who challenged participants to come together across the silos of legal education, legal practice, and legal technology to collaborate in new and creative ways.
In 2019, SoLI went to camp! Failure camp, that is. You can learn more about the Failure Camp experience here.
In 2020, SoLI hosted (virtual) SubTech2020. SubTech is a biennial conference that since 1990 has been bringing together legal scholars, educators, practitioners, and technologists from around the world who influence the development and substantive application of technology in legal education and practice.
