Robots LatAm is a community that seeks to promote robotics in Latin America.
Role: UX Researcher within a collaborative UX team made up of three people: a project leader, a UX Designer and me.
In May 2021, the Robots LatAm community was active across multiple platforms — Discord, Twitter, Telegram — but lacked a unified space for collaboration and knowledge sharing.
The goal of the research was twofold:
Explore the main motivations of community members.
Validate whether there was a real need or desire for a centralized hub to connect and learn together.
Using the Design Thinking framework, we carried out the following activities:
✅ Conduct user interviews and surveys
✅ Analyze qualitative and quantitative data
✅ Facilitate workshops with stakeholders
✅ Define design challenges through How might we... questions
✅ Present insights and recommendations to the team
✅Hangouts - Meet
✅OTranscribe
✅Miro - Figjam
✅Google Docs and Sheets
🧑💼 User Persona – Representation of key user profiles based on research
📄 Insights Report – Categorized findings from qualitative and quantitative analysis
🗺️ User Flow – Visualization of the user journey within the proposed platform
🧩 Wireframes – Low-fidelity design proposals for the centralized space
Based on the data collected, we identified four key aspects about community members:
Their expectations
Their attitudes toward content sharing
How they access and consume related content
Their sociodemographic profile
This analysis informed the creation of two User Personas:
🧑🎓 The Enthusiastic Student and 👩💻 The Generous Professional.
Additionally, we defined 39 design challenges, each grounded in user insights. These challenges reflected both users' needs and their concerns—such as the type of content they were looking for or the barriers they faced when contributing to the community.
We proposed the creation of a centralized community website that would serve as a reference point for all members. This platform would allow users to:
Access shared resources and curated content
Connect with others through interest-based groups or topics
Find opportunities to collaborate, learn, and contribute
Strengthen the community’s identity through a unified space
