What is Instagram Stories and how do they work?
(Pocket-lint) (Pocket-lint) Instagram Stories allow you to show multiple videos and photos taken throughout the day, including overlays of stickers and doodles (similar to Snapchat Stories. This slideshow reel with photos and videos will disappear after 24 hours, which allows you to share moments of your day without needing to save them on your Instagram profile.
If you'd like to add more content to your Instagram story reel, simply create more images and videos and then continue to share them. You could also add the Intsgram Story as a highlight if you want them to stay on your profile for longer than the 24 hours.

How do Instagram Stories work?
The following is a basic overview of the way Instagram Stories work, but we've got full Instagram Stories tips and tricks that will give you details if there is something specfic you want to know how to do.
Posting
Hit on the "+" button on the top right corner of your display and tap on "Story" at the lower left corner. Or swipe left from any spot in Your Instagram Feed.
Then, either tap or tap the Record button at the bottom of the screen, to record photos or videos, depending on. You can tap Boomerang in the toolbar left side to capture photographs that are looped forward or backwards, or tap the arrow on the tool bar in order to select the hands-free mode, along with other options, like Superzoom.
What is Instagram Superzoom and how does it work?
When you're done tap the doodle, text or stickers at the top of your screen . This will add effects. The stickers can contain information about the location, polls and songs.
Once you've completed editing, you can save your work on your phone, or tap the "Send to" at the bottom of your screen to share it on your story. Photos and videos you share in your story are removed off the feed and on your profile after 24 hours.
Hide your story from someone
If you don't want people to be able to see your post, you can block the story of yours from their view. Just tap the profile icon in the lower right of the Instagram application to open your profile. Tap three lines in the upper right-hand corner. Select Settings > Privacy > Story > Hide Story from Select the people you'd like to hide your story from.
Viewing
When you post a photo of a video or photo to your Instagram story, it will appear in your account (a colourful ring will appear around your profile photo and visitors can tap to reveal your story) and at the top of the Instagram feed (your profile image will appear in a row at the top of your followers' feeds and they'll have the option of tapping it to view your story).
Stories shared publicly may also appear on the Search & Explore tabs.
Also, if the sticker has hashtag, location, or one that's based on location, it could also show up on hashtag or location pages.
Replying
It is possible to reply to stories via a message, or an emoji for quick replies using the "Send Message" box at the at the bottom of the story that you're viewing.
Your friend will receive the response via their Direct message inbox with a thumbnail of the original story.

You can make your story private. When your profile is made private your account, the story will only show to your fans. You can also make your story private from anyone who you do not wish to be able to view it, even if they are following you.
Post your story to the profile It's that easy. Instagram Story by default won't appear on your profile grid , or in feeds, but you can decide to highlight a particular part of the story by posting it to your profile, or even add it as a Highlight.
