Technology is being used to separate humans from warfare. It's unethical for countries to develop systems such as automated drones to make the killing of humans/destruction of civilization more efficient -- however, remotely controlled drones are an acceptable substitute for manned vehicles.

Drift technology is exclusive to certain members of society, which creates a separation in society and makes people more valuable or powerful than others. This mirrors real life age valuing in technology savvy -- older members of society have less use or want for technology.

Nobody did a physical inspection of the drones that would notice problems. Automation is not a end-all solution, as problems can still occur, but then no one notices.
