So You Think You Can Debate is a virtual debate competition, open to all students from ages 12-18. Founded and run by high school students around the world, this competition has reached 11 countries from Europe to North America to Asia. It caters to debaters with all levels of debate experience. SYTYCD aims to give students more opportunities to debate, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, where all global competitions have been put on pause.
Whether you have close to no experience in debating and want to gain experience, or you're a well-seasoned debater, seeking to secure another win under your belt, this competition is for you! You will be able to express your ideas openly, all while building connections with new friends from all around the world.
We aim to provide opportunities for international student debate, particularly during the isolation following the COVID-19 pandemic and travel restrictions. With the uncertainty that this pandemic has brought on, SYTYCD brings debate tournaments to you, at the comfort of your own home.
This online debate competition is a great way to connect with passionate debaters around the world. Regardless of your experience, SYTYCD is a competition for all -- from a student who has never debated before, to a highly seasoned debater.
Participants will have a chance to debate on many controversial topics to develop oneself as both a debater and a knowledgeable student on social issues.
Most importantly, SYTYCD will be a platform for the communion of students all around the world amidst the pandemic to create a sense of community, togetherness and support.
