The Golden Snub-nosed Monkey (Rhinopithecus roxellana) is an Old World species, meaning it belongs to the class of different species found in Europe, Africa and Asia. The species is one of the largest species of monkeys in the world. It is a part of the Cercopithecoidea family. These primates can be found in forests and mountain covered regions of south and central western China. There population is on the decline due to the loss of there habitat due to the expansion of residential living by humans as well as annual hunting. Currently protected under the CITES Appendix I, and as Category I of the Chinese Wildlife Protection Act, 1989. These beautiful animals caught my eye from just searching the web. I was stunned to find out that they are endangered and steadily declining in population.
