Book Review by Mr. Abraar Ahmed
Book Name: Bird Box by Josh Malerman
The author of the book is Josh Malerman. The story takes 378 pages, but this number is nothing compared to the thrill generated inside those pages.
The main protagonist of the story is Malorie, a mother with two kids. She has hardly seen a restful day throughout the span of the story. In a chaotic world imagined by the author, the humans are visited by a mysterious problem where anyone can suddenly get into a rage and cause fatal harm to anyone around as well as inflict self harm culminating into suicide. The most trusted theory is that you get contracted with the impulse when you see "something". The only hope appears to a blindfold: if you do not see these radiations/aliens/creatures/whatever, you will be safe.
In this difficult world and limited resources Malorie decides to move out of the house where she has lived for four years raising the kids. Her aim is to reach a "safer place". This challenging and often impossible journey makes the backbone of the story, even as the flashbacks as mass to it.
Already a hit among school students, Bird Box presents itself as a very readable book. Notwithstanding the fact that movie producers have turned it into a successful Netflix movie, one might aim to read it before watching. Though the end might not be as juicy as the middle, Bird Box remains a steady page turner.
