I started a new position as an Associate at Exponent. I am part of the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science practice in the Phoenix-AZ office!
After taking some time off to travel and visit family, I am back to UT Dallas as a Research Associate!
In Dec 2023 I was awarded the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Dallas.
On Oct 31, 2023 I successfully defended my thesis:
Risk-Based Motion Planning and Control for Robotic Systems
Thanks a lot to my committee members:
Dr. Tyler Summers (my advisor)
Dr. Mark Spong
Dr. Justin Ruths
Dr. Justin Koeln
Dr. Abraham P. Vinod.
In Spring 2023 I took my last structured course at UTD. After an interesting last semester going to classes, I finally graduated with my M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering!
I took on the challenge of trying to summarize my PhD research thesis in a 3 minute presentation for a public audience by participating in the UTD 3MT competition. After passing the preliminary round in late March, I made it to the finals.
I finished second place at the finals and won the Runner Up award university-wide!
I highly encourage everyone to attempt this challenge.
I successfully completed my examination for the PhD proposal and have official become a PhD candidate!
Thanks a lot to my PhD committee members:
Dr. Tyler Summers (committee chair)
Dr. Mark Spong
Dr. Justin Ruths
Dr. Justin Koeln
Dr. Abraham P. Vinod.
MERL's 2022 Open House featured two projects I worked on during my 2021-2022 internship with them.
Mixed-Integer Programming for vehicle decision making/motion planning (we solve an MIP to perform motion planning and decision making such as over/undertaking vehicles, stopping at intersections, ...)
Safe multi-agent motion planning via filtered reinforcement learning (published at ICRA 2022).
Today, UTD published the newsletter article "AI Vehicles Driving Autonomous Technology Research at UT Dallas". The post features our autonomous car platforms COMO and Super COMO!
I was invited to chair the "Motion and Path Planning IV" session at IROS 2021 with Andreas Orthey.
I accepted a full-time internship position at Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories (MERL), Cambridge, MA. I will be working there from August 2021 to March 2022.
We have a new blog where we discuss some of our lab work, interesting research papers, as well as research resources (programming tips, coding pipeline, tutorials, other blogs, etc...). Check it out here!
UTD Jonsson School of Engineering published a newsletter article about our new project: "Researchers Build Networked Autonomous Systems through International Collaboration."
