I used the following dataset to examine the impacts of the Affordable Care Act’s Medicaid expansion on health insurance coverage, health care utilization, and health outcomes among Mexican Americans. The National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) is the longest-running government health survey in the United States, with data collection dating back to 1957. It gathers information through personal household interviews on a wide range of health topics, including health status, access to care, health behaviors, and more. The dataset is particularly valuable for research on race and ethnicity, as it includes detailed racial and ethnic variables that support robust analysis of health disparities.
