ROLE OF THE PROFESSIONAL SCHOOL COUNSELOR
The role of the school counselor is central to our comprehensive counseling program. At Sartartia Middle School, the counseling team demonstrates proficiency by collaborating and consulting with stakeholders, providing relevant and responsive guidance, individualized academic support, and intervention to build a strong social and emotional wellbeing for all our students.
The success of our students is in part due to the advocacy and leadership of the counseling team. We are viewed as valued members of the school’s leadership team. We are involved in important decision making along with our campus administration and instructional leadership team. This allows us to create a partnership among our school community through parent outreach, student workshops, and social emotional learning support for our teachers. Through our advocacy, we were able to work with local youth program, Expose Excellence, to build student confidence and recognize personal growth.
