OCIA stands for Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (Order of Christian Initiation of Teens, Order of Christian Initiation of Children). It is the process in the Catholic Church through which adults—and sometimes older children—prepare to become Catholic.
OCIA is for those who have never been baptized (Catechumen), those baptized in another Christian faith who want to become Catholic (Candidate), and those Baptized Catholics who have not yet received First Communion or Confirmation.
During the OCIA journey, those preparing for Sacraments will learn about Catholic beliefs, Scripture, and traditions, will grow in prayer and relationship with God, and will participate in the life of the Church community.

Catechumen – One who has not been baptized but is committed to and actively preparing to become Catholic by receiving the 3 Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Holy Eucharist, Confirmation)

Candidate – One who has received a Christian Baptism and is preparing for Reception into Full Communion in the Catholic Church through the sacraments of Holy Communion and Confirmation.
