Never read at The Lion
which is at 1309 R streets: the west wing of St. Mark's on the Campus.
Sarah Louise Sieler-Fairchild held a Masters degree in Poetry from UNL since 1986. She had become an Episcopalian and a member of this church the year before, and then was married here on January 6th, Epiphany, in1986, where she lived and raised a family until her dying day on October 30-31 in 2017.
As publisher of, and managing editor for, Black Star Press, she published many Nebraska poets, including many of the Featured Readers who have appeared at The Lion. Although she never heard of "at The Lion," which was not organized until seven years following her death, we are certain that she would have loved the idea and encouraged it strongly.
Sarah Louise (Sieler) Fairchild was born June 24, 1959 in Wahoo, Nebraska. Her parents were living in Ceresco at the time, but soon moved to Fremont for a period, then to Norfolk, where they, and Sarah, lived until she moved out to attend college at Doane College in Crete, Nebraska, After graduating she moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where she took a job as Special Orders clerk at Nebraska Book Store, then at 14th & R streets.
