· Planning Meeting on Sunday, July 17, 12:30 – 2:00 at St. Marks – we will have a single planning meeting on this date during which we’ll overview the week, hear from LIHI staff about the Tiny House program, and spend a bit of time with our devotion/ lunch teams.
· Tools
o Jon Rodin will be emailing the group shortly with a sign-up list of all tools we would like to have folks lend during the week of the build that can support the group’s efforts (e.g., saw horses, ladders, painting supplies, caulk gun). We will have people bring these to the church ahead of Monday, 7/25 so that we can get things organized.
o People tend to supply for themselves the smaller hand tools that they might use very frequently and bring them daily (e.g., hammer, tape measure – Jon will list these for the group too). For people who don’t have these hand tools, we will have extras that folks can use.
· Team Devotions and Lunch activities – As we did last year, we will begin each morning with a brief devotion and have a short, fun lunch activity during the noon hour. Melanie Summerour will be sending an email to let you know your team assignment so that you might contact each other ahead of our meeting and do a bit of preplanning for both.
· Building Materials Delivery – John Avery is coordinating the ordering and receiving of the building materials. The delivery is scheduled for the week before the build (July 18 or 19) with the precise day and time tbd. He will be coordinating volunteers to help move the materials into the garage and storage container.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact any of us who are helping to organize the week.

Food-
Please eat breakfast before you come each day, or bring something with you.
We will have morning and afternoon snacks and water available. Please bring a water bottle and drink it often throughout the work day.
We will provide lunch for anyone who signs up for it. The cost will be $5 per day. Please let us know which days you would like to have a lunch prepared for you, and if you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions. There will be a sign-up sheet at the meeting on the 17th. If you won't be at the meeting please email Melanie - melaniesummerour@gmail.com
Evening activities- we have the opportunity to go to dinner together or play games together in the evenings if people want to. We'll talk more about this later.
Group activities
One of the aspects of this building project that is really important to the leaders, is to foster community and provide a way to enjoy the time we'll be spending together and reflect on what we're doing. To this end, we plan to have a morning meeting with team devotions, a lunch break together and a fun activity, and devotions and singing at the end of each work day. We have created teams for the purpose of planning and presenting a morning devotion and a lunch activity. These are NOT building teams (you can do a variety of building tasks regardless of the team you're on). We planned teams based on which days you'll be working, but if that has changed and you need to be moved to a different team, please let me know.
I'm hoping you can contact your team members soon via email, prior to the work week, to brainstorm ideas for the morning devotion and group activity at lunch time. This can be discussed at the planning meeting on the 17th as well.
No one has to "share" or speak in front of the group, but please allow everyone on your team to participate at whatever level they would like to (include everyone that wants to be included).
In your teams please plan a morning devotion and a lunch-time activity for your designated day (see below)
1. For the morning devotion, consider incorporating the following themes: inclusivity, love, power structures
· ideas: readings, scripture, poem, song, prayers, individual sharing of experiences, small skit.
· Plan for about 10 min or so.
2. Plan a small activity at lunch, to involve the whole group. It should be at most 20 min – it can be fun, an icebreaker/get to know you type of thing, or something related to housing; something that fosters cohesion/sense of community.
