Having been an educator since 2001 and an IB educator since 2007, standards based practices are extremely familiar and have shaped the lens through which teaching and assessment are approached. Transitioning from classroom educator to librarian, there was definitely a learning curve for all the roles and responsibilities that needed to be up-skilled. The MLIS program at UNCG afforded an opportunity to demonstrate understanding of the AASL along with the ISTE standards to truly and effectively lead from the library. These frameworks guided the development of strategies to support both learners and educators in navigating an evolving information landscape. More than just acquiring new knowledge, this journey further instilled and guided a reflective practice, challenging existing instructional perspectives and aligning them with the specialized demands of school librarianship. Effective leadership in the library means continuous learning, adaptability, and a commitment to equipping educators and learners with the skills to critically engage with information and resources.
