The Blue Crabs traveled to Columbia, Maryland to compete in the Western Howard County Fall Classic.
In game 1, the Blue Crabs faced off with the Western Howard County Renegades Black, winning 5-1. Smithsburg High freshman Tommy Becker got the start, going 4.0 innings, allowing 5 hits and 1 run on 2 walks and a strikeout. Boonsboro High freshman Landon Boyer threw 2.0 in relief, giving up 0 runs on 0 hits and 2 walks and a strikeout. Thomas Johnson senior Oqtevious Drummond led the team with 2 hits, a single and double, and 2 RBIs. Homeschool senior Matthew Walker added a double and 2 RBIs. Jefferson junior Braddock Hanson and South Hagerstown sophomore Camryn Kelley each also added hits. South Hagerstown senior Kaleb Niebauer stole 2 bases and homeschool junior Gabirel Walker stole 1.
In game 2, the Blue Crabs took on the Elkridge Hurricanes 18u, dropping the game 13-1. South Hagerstown junior Daniel Cohen had 1 hit and drove in the lone run. North Hagerstown senior Shane Eastep and Niebauer also tacked on hits. The Blue Crabs struggled offensively, only earning 3 hits, and on the mound, allowing 15 walks.
The woes continued in game 3 when the Blue Crabs took on the Western Howard County Renegades Red, dropping the game 14-0. The Blue Crabs only tacked on 3 hits while allowing 14. Hanson, Becker, and Eastep were the only Blue Crabs to earn hits.
The Blue Crabs will travel to Garrett College to face off against the Lakers in a doubleheader on Saturday, October 22nd.
