In 2015, I acquired a collection of original field recordings on DAT cassettes, along with a non-working Fostex portable DAT machine. These recordings feature many improvisational and popular musicians in performance. Hear some of these recording here.
Since I was in high school, I've had a 1/4" reel-to-reel tape deck. I used it then to playback my father's homemade tapes that included collections of his favorite jazz, country, and choral works.
I've owned a number of 1/4" reel-to-reels since, and have used them in various applications in recording.
I've also had fun discovering others' recordings on this format, and making these available for public consumption. Examples of this include:
a recording of the Trinidad Dam groundbreaking ceremony; Trinidad, CO
an unknown recording of someone playing Christmas songs on an electric organ
In 2022, I began digitizing 8MM films found at yard sales and in online sales using a Wolverine 8MM digitalization machine. The results of these efforts can be found here.
