PG&E Programs & Rebates
Free Backup Power Transfer Meter Program - PG&E installs the backup power transfer meter in about 30 min and provides customers with the cable to connect the meter to there choice of backup power. This is available for free to homes in high fire threat areas like the Highlands.
Backup Generator and Battery Rebate - receive a rebate up to $300 on a qualifying backup generator or battery.
Types of Backup Power
Small Power Banks - useful for your phone, laptop, or other small electrical device. How long they last depends on the size of the battery. Some can power devices for a few days.
UPS - useful for computers, medical equipment, or your home internet modem. Will prevent interruptions but typically still only last a few hours.
Portable Generators (Gas, Propane, Diesel)
Portable Power Stations - because these are electric they have the bonus of being able to be used indoors.
EV Cars - some EVs have V2H which can power your home.
