- The belief that ALL students can learn at high levels given the right supports is woven throughout all systems, structures, curriculum and instruction and PD.

- Culturally Responsive Teaching
- Explicit professional development and teaching strategies for struggling students such as ELs, Special Education, low income, etc.
- All students apply to at least one 4-year college
- All students pass state tests
- All students participate in rigorous instruction: taking one AP course, Project Based Learning, etc.
- Support structures such as small group instruction, Response to Intervention, tutoring, office hours, etc.
- Trauma Informed Instruction
- Diverse by Design/Heterogenous school models and classrooms (no tracking)

- Holding kids to high expectations without equitable support structures.
- Saying "I don't believe ____student(s) is capable of that."

A rural school district made up of mostly ELs, low income students and children of migrant workers, the district has created a personalized, competency based model ,that incorporates social-emotional learning.
This represents “high expectations” because all students, regardless of background are expected to learn and achieve at high levels.
