Distribution of the Licenses
Currently the HP workstations are located at IC Design Laboratory (CAS Building, RPE). The Cadence license server is located at IC Design Laboratory. The software is installed at the terminal workstations of IC Design Laboratory. One terminal for Cadence software is located at Digital Communications Laboratory (CAS Building, RPE). Network connection from the Cadence server and workstation located at TCAD Laboratory (Sisir Mitra Bhawan, RPE) has been established. The Synopsys licenses is distributed in 2 servers (5 users each), located at IC Design Laboratory and TCAD Laboratory (Sisir Mitra Bhawan, RPE). The Mentor Graphics licenses are distributed in 2 servers, located at IC Design Laboratory (90 users licenses) and A.K.Choudhury School of IT (10 users license at Technology Campus, Calcutta University). Stand alone Xilinx software is installed at IC Design Laboratory and Digital Communications Laboratory.
Usage of the SMDP-C2SD Facilities
The HP workstations are used by the SMDP project staffs for their C2SD project works including design, simulation, verification, synthesis, layout design, post layout simulation etc., each of which requires heavy computational resources. The software are being used by the project staffs and Ph.D. research scholars. M.Tech VLSI students of the University of Calcutta, do their practical classes (RP4.2.22) using Cadence software. B.Tech students of the Department of Radio Physics and Electronics/Computer Science and Engineering/School of IT also use the software for their project works. M.Sc Electronic Science (CU) students also use Cadence software for their project works. Faculties from other institute also use the SMDP-C2SD facility as and when required. Students from other institutes like NIT Sikkim do their summer internship works using the SMDP-C2SD facilities.
Access to SMDP-C2SD Facilities
Students/scholars/faculties willing to use SMDP-C2SD facility for their research and other academic works are hereby requested to contact the chief investigator, Dr. Soumya Pandit (sprpe@caluniv.a.c.in) with a copy to the project faculty Shri. Samik Basu (samikbasu2010@gmail.com). Applications from students and scholars should be forwarded by their respective supervisors. It may be noted that any publications/thesis work containing research works, where the SMDP-C2SD facilities have been used must duly acknowledge the SMDP-C2SD facility of the University of Calcutta, sponsored by MeitY, Govt. of India.
