The smart irrigation system addresses a key environmental challenge which is Water wastage in Agriculture. It integrates soil moisture and temperature sensors to automate plant care, ensuring optimal hydration and climate control. When soil moisture drops below 30%, the system activates the irrigation mechanism via a servo motor. If the temperature exceeds 24 degrees Celsius, the system triggers a fan to cool the plants. Real-time data on soil moisture and temperature is displayed five times a second, and the system can be paused with a button.
The system has real-time applications in various sectors:
Urban gardening: In cities with limited space, it saves water while maintaining plant health. It prevents over-watering, especially on cold days, and regulates temperature in hot weather.
Agriculture in arid regions: In areas with water shortages, the system helps to optimize irrigation, improve crop yields, and save water. It ensures that plants are watered only when needed.
Greenhouses and Indoor Farming: This system provides automated climate control by adjusting irrigation and temperature, reducing the need for manual intervention and increasing productivity.
Public Parks: In large public spaces, this system saves water by monitoring soil moisture and adjusting irrigation accordingly, reducing waste.
Commercial Plant Care: For businesses managing multiple plant systems, it reduces the need for frequent visits and ensures that plants are properly maintained.
Optimizing Water Use: By using soil moisture sensors, water is delivered only when the soil's moisture level falls below a specific threshold, reducing waste.
Enhancing Plant Health: Maintaining optimal soil moisture improves plant growth and minimizes stress caused by overwatering or underwatering.
Energy Efficiency: Automating the system reduces the need for manual operation and allows integration with renewable energy sources like solar power, further lowering its carbon footprint.
Adaptability: The system can adapt to various crops and soil types, making it versatile for different agricultural setups, from small-scale farms to large operations.
