We have in the past, been used to a certain amount of privacy, often because, getting information on you was difficult to get, and handling the large volumes of data associated with present day population, was slow, tedias and so often wrong or incomplete.
The introduction of computers changed everything, but it was not on its own that they changed privacy, it was storage, large volume storage capacity, together with high volume retrival rates, together with the the connection, of the internet,
