Welcome to the first official episode of Small-Town Murders. In this episode, Faith and Rhys dive into the case of the Midtown Slasher, also known as the 22.-Caliber Killer who was active in Buffalo and New York City during the early 1980s. During this case, the police couldn’t find any evidence of the killer besides .22-caliber bullet casings. They thought the case would go cold until they got a call from Fort Benning, Ga. about a Private Joseph Christopher, who attacked a black enlistee. During his time in custody at the fort, he gave himself a self-inflicted wound. When he arrived at the military hospital, he confessed to killing men in the Buffalo and New York City areas. During his time in the Akron State Correctional Facility, he confessed to more murders and attacks. He eventually died in prison due to a rare form of male breast cancer.
