The following notes are collected from SLURM's social media, among other places, and document many of the wonderful trips we've been able to take with y'all over the years.
SLURM #11, June 14, 2025: For this month's SLURM, we will meet at American Plaza at 10am (bring bikes -- or grab a GREENbike across the street!) and embark on a tour of new Livable Streets, CIP, and other infrastructure on the westside. We'll return back via the lovely 300 N bike path and bridge, ending at the Red Bull soapbox race happening on Main St. Route & POIs.
Post-SLURM Note: Lovely tour, great conversations about lots of little things. Took longer than expected so the transfer to the soapbox race (which much of the group took) was not great.
Note: We did not do a Stadler tour in 2025 since Stadler scheduled it during Pride :(
SLURM #10, March 8, 2025: We will be meeting at 7:30 PM at the usual place (American Plaza downtown) to take the 8:03 p.m. FrontRunner southbound from North Temple. Please be punctual. If all goes well, we'll be on Amtrak going northbound at about 9:30!
SLURM #9, December 21, 2024: Reminder: SLURM on Saturday (12/21) [1] starting at 6:30 p.m! Join us (at American Plazah, duh) for: 1. Riding around and looking at pretty lights. 2. Badly singing Christmas carols. 3. Free Hot Cocoa and Cookies
[1] Originally scheduled Dec. 14th @ 6:00pm, rescheduled

SLURM #8, September 14, 2024: SLURM @ Open Streets Granary. Our friends at @SweetStreetsSLC organized a tour with the city at the granary and have invited us! Plan to meet at American Plaza at 4:30pm, from there we'll take the 4:41 Blue Line to open streets and meet the Sweet Streets people at 5pm.

SLURM #7, August 10th, 2024: We'll meet at American Plaza at 12:00 p.m. and head off for a ~2 hour bike ride, wherein we'll sample some of SLC's finest biking (9 line, Parleys, 6th E, etc.)

SLURM #6, July 20th, 2024: Join us this coming Saturday, July 20, at American Plaza at 11:30 a.m. sharp as we head to Ogden to visit the world's largest operating steam locomotive; Union Pacific's #4014! Please be punctual, as we will be catching the 11:40 Green Line northbound.

SLURM #5, June 8, 2024: This Saturday, June 8th, we will be visiting the open house at Stadler's Salt Lake City factory. For those wanting to join us on a bike ride to and from the factory, meet at American Plaza (47 W 200 S) at 10:45am for an 11am departure. For those who wish to carpool, expect to meet with @averagejoejesse sometime around 11:30am. Plans are not finalized, so SLURMers are encouraged to dm us to help with planning efforts and to RSVP, we currently have limited seats. For those who wish to meet us at the factory for one reason or another, expect a rough meetup time of noon at the factory (5880 W 150 S). General Event info: stadlerrail.com/en/media/eve…
Post-SLURM Note: Recognizing the ride to the Stadler facility is long, hot, and not on the best infrastructure, Jesse organized a carpool. Noone signed up, so we ended up cancelling it. Photo of the Stadler bike rack from Mike
SLURM #4, May 4, 2024: Tendies with SLURM. Jordan Landing Cinemark is fabled to have some of the best chicken tenders in the Salt Lake Area; SLURM is determined to find out whether this is true! We're headed down to Cinemark via bus, train, and hoof to try out the famous chicken strips and maybe catch a movie. Join us at American Plaza at 12:00 noon! (From Google Calendar)
SLURM #3, April 20, 2024: How much of Main St.? Yes. Main Street is the heart of the Salt Lake Valley and of Utah as a whole; from skyscrapers to suburbia it runs straight as an arrow through our cities. Join SLURM for a bike ride along Main Street where we can think collectively about the future of our 'main line.' We'll begin at American Plaza, ride up to Main Street's beginning at the Utah State Capital, then ride the roughly 7 miles from there to where Main Street ends at 45th South. TRAX is available from 45th (Murray North Station) back downtown or to other parts of the valley. (From Google Calendar)
SLURM #2, March 2, 2024: Join SLURM as we attempt the greatest challenge in SLC transit: riding Amtrak from Provo to SLC. Will we make it, or will our boys in stainless steel leave us out in the cold? Join in to find out! (From Google Calendar)
SLURM #1, February 3, 2024: Join SLURM for its first ever meeting! We'll be taking a walking tour of downtown SLC, hosted by the fabulous @sofiainslc, and discussing how our city's center can be a model for urbanism along the Wasatch Front! (From Google Calendar)
