My name is [insert your name]. I am writing to you today to share my concerns about traffic safety in the Corktown area and to express support for the goals of the Slowdown Corktown Initiative.
As a [resident/worker/student/commuter/visitor] in Corktown I have directly observed the risks that vehicle speed creates in the neighbourhood. For example, [insert examples of issues you have seen].
The stated vision of the City of Hamilton is "to be the best place to raise a child and age successfully." The risks that speeding drivers pose in residential neighbourhoods are in direct opposition to this vision.
With this in mind, I urge you to initiate and support a Complete Streets Audit of Corktown, as the Public Works Committee has already done in Wards 3, 8, and 14. I further urge you to adopt comprehensive measures to slow traffic throughout Corktown.
