SLOAN'S

ART HUB

Welcome to the hub. This is the nexus of all of my different creative activities and projects. I have always been involved in various art making traditions from as far back as I can remember. My curiosity and love of the art making process has led me to work in painting, 2-D design, sculpture, music, dance, language and martial arts. I hope to collect a little bit about all of those investigations here at this hub of my art experience.

I have been in the teaching profession for about 25 years in various ways and I am very happy to be sharing my love of the art making process with my students as an elementary art teacher for the past 18. I am constantly inspired and amazed by the creative work my students produce. I feel there is a give and take that exists and I see the influence my teaching has had on my own development as an artist.

This is a site that is under construction so please be patient with me and check back to see the updates as they happen!

Welcomed to the Art Shed

On a cold January evening, while sitting in my vehicle parked outside my Long Island home, I connected to my wifi with my phone and computer. I put on my headphones, popped a Belgian style beer, and took an exit into the Art Shed. Through the magic of technology we were able to settle into an informal virtual conversation about art and life. Mad Carl and Normal Andy (The Ristaino Brothers) along with their long time friend Chris Peters host a podcast and the conversation we had that night was for the purpose of creating 2 episodes released in late February of 2021. Here is a link to those episodes but I recommend listening to every episode.
