INTRODUCING: An out-of-the-box vision for vending & events in Sleepy Hollow
An affordable (adorable!), electric, street-legal low-speed GEM mini-truck with an enclosed bed becomes the simple, practical staging area for a simple, enticing shop & experience at local events and solo in available spaces. No gas or emissions required! The contents match the container: all handmade, upcycled, and vintage. Books, prints, paintings, encaustics, woodwork, even shadowboxes, all with a special made-in-Sleepy Hollow flavor. So much so that the trees painted on the exterior match the cover design for my best-of edition of Irving's The Legend of the Sleepy Hollow.
The big picture:
What if various local talented and entrepreneurial earth-friendly vendors came together for monthly ongoing market full of such unique finds. What if instead of makers and collectors needing to rent an expensive storefront or buy a building to get in front of customers, they can incubate their creative start-ups here together outside? These markets, with Shadowbox as anchor and organizer, will help connect the riverfront to the inner village without burdening downtown congestion, entice & delight both visitors and residents who happen upon them, and offer accessible selling opportunities to makers and vendors year-round (weather permitting) and not just in crowded October. But first up, we launched this in October on parade weekend. 10 vendors, beautiful day.
Coming again soon to Horan's Landing. 11/7:
LOT & FOUND: Sleepy Hollow Flea for All
Think: vintage oddities, books, botanicals, handcrafted treasures, upcycled/repurposed, Sleepy Hollow-inspired and Earth-friendly wares--eclectic, eccentric, and yes, often dark and spooky like we like it around here.
